William C. & Hannah Biddick Paul

William Charles Paul was born February 9, 1846 in Portsmouth, England to George Hoskins Paul and Elizabeth Paynter (Betsy) Rundell Paul. The family came to America in 1857 and settled near Platteville, Wisconsin.


Hannah G. Paul was born July 15, 1844 in St. Issey Parish, Cornwall England to Matthew and Petronella Hawkins Biddick. The family came to America in 1850 and settled near Platteville, Wisconsin


William and Hannah married on December 9, 1865 in Platteville. They started their family where William helped farm. Born were Ella Hawkins on February, 20 1866, Charles Augustus on October 9, 1867, and Allie James on December 5, 1869.


In 1870, William came to Iowa in search of a location to farm and found it in Hardin County. They moved to this location in 1871. They were one of the earliest settlers in Hardin County where they had no neighbors to the north, east, or south of them for several miles. To the West in Hamilton County there were a few settlers. They had around 200 acres. In Hardin County, they had 2 more sons. Harry W born on May 17, 1873 and died August 13, 1879 at the age of 6 and is buried in Hardin County. Myron was born January 11, 1883.


In 1893 the bought land in Wheeler Township, Sac County, Iowa and moved their family there. In 1901, they built a house in Odebolt leaving the sons to manage the farm. In early womanhood, Hannah united with the primitive Methodist Church in Platteville and they were strong christians throughout their life and very active in the churches. In Platteville, there was no church so they helped organize Sunday school in school house. William passed away in 1902 at the age of 56 and Hannah passed away in 1931 at the age of 87. They are buried in the Odebolt Cemetery.
